Work From Home Moms, Not So Easy Is It?

For someone like me, the thought of sending my new daughter off to be watched over by strangers in some day-care was totally appauling. This little, sweet little baby, this most important jewel of my lifetime, and I was supposed to simply give her to a group of strangers working over here in a building with the words “Day Care” painted on the side of it? I don’t think so!

Well, “Mommie” and I were able to make it go right to keep our daughter at home so that she could be with us and not raised by strangers. I is clear after talking to many other new parents that the concept of the daddy going to work and Mom staying home with the kids is now not how most families are doing it. This is not okay. We are now in a situation where our kids are being raised by the government. Most all day-care facilities are controlled by some division of the government, as if that person, simply because their paycheck comes from a government office, somehow has more understanding of what our kids need than we do.

Some parents have no choice. If you are a single parent I definitely empathize with your situation. You have much work ahead of you. But like that song says, “I will survive!”. You don’t have much choice do you? It’s not just your problem since you have that little one to be responsible for.

And if you have ever had the misfortune of attempting to find work so that you could be a work from home mom I’m sure you discovered that this is not easy to get. You’ll spend countless hours searching and most of the time you won’t find anything that fits your needs.

A couple issues.

This is an extremely competitive proposition, and work from home jobs, even if you can find one, don’t exactly pay much.

Right after we brought our new baby home from the hospital we spent a ton of time searching for work from home moms-type work for “Mommy”. The hours just ticked off, searching, searching, searching. A couple months pass while you are doing this and any ad you find which seems to apply to what you are looking for seems as if it gets filled the moment it is published. After a while you have to realize that you are just wasting a ton of time, and even if you do find a position you have already invested two-hundred hours searching for no pay.

One thing that a great deal of women who are seeking work at home moms-type work do not consider is just starting up their own home-based business. Undoubtedly there can be a lot of stress and uncertainty due to the non-guaranteed wages as well as lack of start-up captial. Potentially valid concerns however if you consider the time you are investing in searching for the work at home job that you are probably never going to find you may realize that you are already working and not getting paid for your time. And, there are more small business opportunites than ever out there right now. Many of them can be started for almost nothing.

The key is in finding something that is suited to you, which you have the skills to do, or which provides training so that you can develop your skills. Forget about franchises. They are expensive to start and most likely you will stay in the red for the first year or two, defeating the purpose of looking for work from home as a mom. Probably you are looking for something which can product income quickly, which doesn’t require too much of a learning curve or much investment.

I found network marketing to be a very workable option for work from home moms, even though I’m a work from home Dad. These days there are literally thousands of different network marketing opportunites to choose from, and with a bit of research, and knowing what to look for, one can find a company which suits their needs and wants. In choosing this optioin you really want to try and find a team or sponsor who has the ability and availability to assist you in getting started, not just in taking your money. Talk to them or spend some time reviewing any material they have available on their blog or other sites. You may be surprised how good a feel you can get for these people just by spending some time on their websites. And you may have to talk to a few of these guys before you are comfortable making a decision. The difference will be, unlike a “job”, these people will actually want to work with you provided you are fairly bright and ambitious.

But this type of work is very social and obviously flexible time-wise, even if you have a child in your lap. You may be surprised at how many others you will talk to who are also sitting there with their children in their lap! And should you find the right sponsor, someone who can really teach you some solid internet marketing skills you will have a path to follow so that you can develop your own skills and cause increasing amounts of growth in your business as time goes on. Another thing to consider about starting such a business is that the majority of the work will be in the very beginning, in the learning curve, in the establishment of your marketing strategies, account creation, etc. Someone who really knows what they are doing can save time in the beginning by directing you so you are not just meandering all over the universe trying to figure out what to do. So you may have to search around for a bit to find someone who can sponsor you and who is wiling to help you, who has also been around in the game for a while. This could make it way easier for you, which is why I point this out as an option for you. Network marketing is one of the few areas where people are not only glad to welcome you into their business, but they are more than willing to help you learn, without charging you.

The rest is just getting to work and having a little motivation of your own.
